excel formula

I have a set group of numbers associated with letters. I need to know what
formula I would use to accomplish the following:

if (cell #1 = 1.26 then (Cell #2) = G
f (cell #1 = 1.22 then (Cell #2) = c

and so on. I would like to be able to input the number and have the letter
show up inj another are.
