Default excel does not accept "0" as the first zip code number?

Why does Excel not accept a "0" as the first number of a 5 digit zip code?

you must do one of two things, format the cell containing the zip code
to accept zip codes or format to text

You could 'Custom Format' your cell(s) to:
00000

OR,
You could 'Special Format' your cells to:
Zip Code

OR
You could prefix your cell entry with an apostrophe ( ' )
Which is *not* displayed in the cell but can be seen in the formula bar

OR
You could *PRE* format your cells to
TEXT

Hi

Excel assumes that 5 digits is a number - and numbers don't have leading
zeroes. Format your cell as text and retype it, or precede the zip code with
'

Hope this helps.
Andy.
