Why are subtotals so slow in Excel 2002 SP-2?
We've recently got new hardware and have upgraded from 97 to 2002 (sp2) and a
spreadsheet that was working fine now takes too long to add subtotals to a few hundred rows of data. Nothing has changed in the spreadsheet so why the poor performance? |
I don't know why you'd experience such a difference between versions.
Instead of subtotals, you may find it easier, and more flexible, to use a Pivot Table to summarize the data. There are instructions in Excel's Help, and Jon Peltier has information and links: http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Pivots/pivotstart.htm Confused? Me too! wrote: We've recently got new hardware and have upgraded from 97 to 2002 (sp2) and a spreadsheet that was working fine now takes too long to add subtotals to a few hundred rows of data.
