pivot table without any calculations

Is it possible to use a pivot just to display data from a dataset? I don't
want to sum or count or perform any other mathmatical operations on any of
the fields. I just want to display the identifier in the left hand column
and the comments associated with that id to the right. There are round about
ways of doing this, but I wanted to check to see if there wasn't an intended
means of accomplishing it that I was just missing. Thanks.

Maybe you could build a pivottable using Count and then ignore the data area.
