Dear Anne:
Cheat! Ok, the term 'permanant' is so non-applicable to computers I hate to think that this is a permanant solution. When you start up Excel it looks in a folder called XLStart and wants to open up any workbooks in that folder. This feature is designed so you can click on the program and have it open up the same workbook each time. Create your 'template' workbook and put it in this folder. Each time excel starts it will open this workbook with the header/footer that you want in it. Here's the catch. The workbook is still dynamic. You'll need to do a "save as" to preserve the original each time you use a new document. Depending on how complicated your footers are this might not be a bad thing. I've had header/footers with images on them that took time to resize, and this helps. All the looking up I've done suggests that excel doesn't have a 'normal.doc' like word does. So it looks like this is your only option. Good luck -Jacob F.
