In order to show the secondary Y axis, you need to plot at least one series on the
secondary axis. It's tricky with column charts, so I would add a series as a line chart series and assign that to the secondary axis. On the Chart menu, go to Source Data, and on the Series tab, click Add. Select some reasonable data for the Y values and click OK. Select this new series, and on the Chart menu, use Chart Type to change it to a line series. Double click the line, and on the Axis tab, select Secondary, then on the Patterns tab, choose None for Markers and for Line to hide the series. If you choose data wisely for the added series, it will span the same data range, and Excel's auto scaling will generate the same axis parameters for both sides. Otherwise you'll have to manually adjust the axes to show the same scales. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Peltier Technical Services Tutorials and Custom Solutions http://PeltierTech.com/ _______ Katie wrote: I wan to be able to have data on both sides of the column graph. Create 2 series and for one of them specify 'secondary axis.'
One can simulate the effect of values on both axis for only one series with Excel Tips and Cases http://www.tushar-mehta.com/excel/tips/index.html Scroll down and click on Singe chart with dual axis -- Regards, Tushar Mehta www.tushar-mehta.com Multi-disciplinary business expertise + Technology skills = Optimal solution to your business problem Recipient Microsoft MVP award 2000-2005 In article , says...
