Linear Trendline Equation Question
I have created a graph of the following data: 93 0.00444 144 0.00621 185 0.00847 243 0.01045 285 0.01246 315 0.01469 I need to know the slope of the trendline it creates. Unfortunately, the equation it gives is of the form y=4E-05x. It may just be that it's late, but what does that translate to? I'm reading it as 4*10^5=400000 but that doesn't seem quite right. Even then, only having one significant figure is a pretty big handicap. Is there a way to make it print it as a normal number that is more precise? If not, am I reading it correctly or have I forgotten some basic math? -- QuestGAV ------------------------------------------------------------------------ QuestGAV's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=17432 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=474664 |

"4E-05x" means 4*10^-5 = 0.00004 Select the special trendline text box, and press the Increase Decimal button repeatedly, or apply a Number format. You could display it like this: y = 0.00004486885899x - 0.00000651777008 Or, you could use the worksheet functions SLOPE and INTERCEPT to obtain the same values in worksheet cells. - Mike www.mikemiddleton.com "QuestGAV" wrote in message ... Thanks! That's much better, I'll put this to good use. -- QuestGAV ------------------------------------------------------------------------ QuestGAV's Profile: http://www.excelforum.com/member.php...o&userid=17432 View this thread: http://www.excelforum.com/showthread...hreadid=474664 |
