change chart primary horizontal axis label or name
 

trying to change the display of a simple chart that shows data recorded each year. i want to change the "1, 2, ...10" labels or names on the primary horizontal axis for the year, but haven't figured that out.
when i introduced the year with the data, the year became plotted as data, which distorted the meaningful data.
any advice would be helpful.

Have you tried xy scatter chart. This should give you dates along the x axis. You can then change the type of graph if it isn't what you want.
