Empty cells at start of x axis

I have two charts that are the same size and I want to print them separately
and compare data by physically laying one above the other on a table.

The x axis on one has dates, i.e.

Oct. 1 Oct. 2 Oct. 3 etc

The x axis on the other has numbers starting at #1,
1 2 3 etc

How do I get two empty cells at the start of "number" chart so that the
number 1 starts in the third cell from the left?

When the two charts are laying one above the other, their x axis would look
like this:

Oct 1 Oct 2 Oct 3 Oct 4
1 2

I take it you're not using a scatter chart, which would provide this
simply by allowing the axis to rescale.

To get two empty points, insert two blank cells at the beginning of the
data. If this messes up a nice tabular arrangement, copy and paste link
this tabular data to another sheet, insert your blanks, and plot this
new data.
