updating charts automatically

Hi,

I have a line chart which is based on data that comes from several
calculations from a couple of different worksheets. When I change some of the
drop down menus (which changes the variables used in the calculations and
ultimately the data used for the chart) the chart doesn't update
automatically.

Instead you have to save, close then reopen to see the result.

Does anyone know of any possible reasons why, and what I could do to
overcome this?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I am having the same problem too.... I am using excel 2003...

The only difference I have from the guy above is that when I ctrl+s it
will update the fields with whatever is supposed to be in there.... but
I have to ctrl+s or it will not update.

Chris

Hi,

I ended up finding this website:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;Q183446

It works, although it did take some messing about. Basically you assign
dynamic names to cells, then get the chart to refer to the names rather then
the actual data.

Hope that helps
