Why plot area does not expand after clearing series legend?
Normally, when I create a chart and clear the series
legend, the plot area expands to the right to fill the space. This time, it does not. How can I get the plot area to fill the chart area? I have tried reinstituting te series legend and clearing it again, to no avail. I am using Office Excel 2003 (11.6355.6360) SP1. |
Just select the plot area with your mouse and drag the edge to fit the chart
area. That said, I don't know why it's not resizing on its own. -- Echo [MS PPT MVP] http://www.echosvoice.com wrote in message ups.com... Once you've manually edited the size of one of a chart's elements, it no longer
resizes interactively when you make other changes. This is why resizing a chart element can help prevent Excel from changing its size when it's printed or when the file is later reopened. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Peltier Technical Services Tutorials and Custom Solutions http://PeltierTech.com/ _______ Echo S wrote: Just select the plot area with your mouse and drag the edge to fit the chart area. I have no recollection of __purposely__ making any manual changes -- that is, none that I have never done before without getting the chart into a mode where Excel would not auto-resize the plot area. But that certainly does not rule an accidental change, which after all is oh-so easy to do, especially with my laptop. I was going to ask you how to tell Excel to take back default control of the object -- at least, resize the plot area automatically again. But after I made the manual change that "Echo" suggested, the plot area now tracks the chart area when I change the latter. Go figure! |
