I have several data series with different amount of text in the legend. At
the moment, excel provides automatically equal space for all series, but i need for some series more than for others, otherwise the legend gets too big and i have to maximize the chart, which i do not want. Is there a way to adjust the space according to the needed space? |

It is not clear what you mean by "Excel provides automatically equal space
for all series" Why not just use abbreviations in the legends You do know you can drag the legend box anywhere you wish on the chart? best wishes -- Bernard V Liengme Microsoft Excel MVP http://people.stfx.ca/bliengme remove caps from email "tönchen" wrote in message ... I know how to drag the legend, but the problem is not solved by dragging the
legend somewhere else. i can not use for all series an abbrevations, so excel increases for all series that much space as it is needed for the longest name of the serie. that makes my legend quite big so i have to increase the size of the whole chart to see the full legend. is there a way to decrease the space for the fields with the short abbrevations? What I do is get rid off the legend and add textboxes, one for each
series. These texboxes allow better control of not only the location but also the text in them.
