Can a cell be used a chart ?
And show a simple range as a chart within a cell using a line or bars and
Only using values given?

Yes, hold down the Alt key and move the chart border to match the
cell borders.

I've seen where the next version of Excel will have these as a
charting options --both lines and bars.
Tufte calls them sparklines.
