Customised Axis Values
 

I have a scatter plot, and have set the y-axis to cross the x-axis at the
average x-axis value. I want the y-axis to always be in the centre of the
scatter plot (i.e the x-axis range).
However, my x-axis values may range from -13,294 to 14,000, with axis values
in between of -7,836, -2,377, 3,082 and 8,541. I want to keep the range I
have, but force x-axis values shown to be rounded numbers, for example labels
at -10,000, -5,000, 5000, 10000.

All help greatly appreciated.

In an XY chart, the x-labels are generally 'round numbers'
What values have you set for the Scale min and max?

Hi Bernard

It's actually going to be a chart that changes based on selections made.
However the range will always be equi-sized from the average.

For clarity, I'm plotting sales on the x-axis, market share on the y-axis,
for given accounts. I've set up a 'crosshair' on the chart to split it into
quadrants. So there is a vertical line that crosses the x-axis at its average
value, which might be £112. My max value might be £13, 345. I need the chart
to show the max value, but also want the vertical 'crosshair' to be in the
middle of the chart.

So the max and min are set to ensure all values are shown, with equal range
either side of the average. This doesn't lead to whole numbers. Excel always
labels the max and min, and then splits the range into whatever you set as
the major and minor units. I don't want it to label max and min, in this
example I might want the labels at -10,000, -5,000, 0, 5,000 and 10,000.
