Hide the data label for a data table in a chart
Excel is automatically adding a title or maybe it's called a data label
[shows in name box] to the line of date from the data table in my chart. It's calling itself Series 1 and I can't figure out how to hide it. Help! |

Go to Chart, Chart Options, Legend, and uncheck Show Legend. The data table includes the series name. You can change the default "Series 1" to something more descriptive: choose Source Data from the Chart menu, click on the Series tab, select the series from the list, and type a label in the Name box. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Peltier Technical Services Tutorials and Custom Solutions http://PeltierTech.com/ _______ Kathy wrote: Excel is automatically adding a title or maybe it's called a data label [shows in name box] to the line of date from the data table in my chart. I am having the same issue, except I want to actually delete the cell for "Series 1", not just name it something descriptive. Is it possible to remove that completely? Deselecting "show legend keys" is not the answer...the series name isn't the same as the legend.
