Updating one Excel chart in my PowerPoint file updates all graphs

Hi,
using Office 2007 I have created 6 graphs (for 6 different KPI:s) in an
Excel file.
The graphs can be simultaneously updated by selecting a (Geography)
parameter in the same file. I copy/paste the 6 graphs of Geography#1 into
PowerPoint, then I change the geography parameter and copy/paste the next 6
graphs (of Geography#2) and so on.
When done, I have a PowerPoint file with 54 slides. (6 KPI:s * 9 Geographies),

bu

when I "edit data" in one of the graphs - all the graphs are updated - to
the same geography.

How can I prevent this massive update from happening, without losing the
possibility to update the individual sheets?

Thanks in advance!

Mats

What you have are essentially the same graph copied 9 times over. It seems
to work because you are not asking PowerPoint to update the links. If those
links do get updated -- as in your case because of a data change -- all the
graphs will show whatever you have currently selected in Excel.

The choices that I can think of a
1) Make static images of the charts (i.e., copy+paste an image of the chart
not a linked Excel chart).

2) Insert a copy of the chart so that it is an Excel chart but no longer
connected to the Excel workbook...not a good idea, methinks.

3) Write a macro that does the 9 geographic selections (*6 copy+paste
operations per selection) from Excel to PP.

Depending on how often the data change, I would go with either 1 or 3,
keeping in mind that 3 might be relatively easy but could easily, if, for
example, you have slides that you annotate, entail a fair amount of work.
