How do I change the size of a chart title box?

My chart title is automatically formatted into 2 lines, but I'd like to keep
it in the same font size on 1 line. It seems it's not possible to grab the
handles on the title box to stretch the box. Is it possible to stretch the
title across more of the chart than the default box allows? Thank you for
your help!

Answer: How do I change the size of a chart title box?

Yes, it is possible to change the size of a chart title box in Microsoft Excel. Here are the steps to do so:
  1. Click on the chart title to select it.
  2. In the "Home" tab of the Excel ribbon, click on the "Font Size" drop-down menu in the "Font" section.
  3. Select a smaller font size to fit the title onto one line.
  4. If the title box is still too small, you can adjust the width of the chart area to allow for a larger title. To do this, click on the chart area to select it.
  5. In the "Format" tab of the Excel ribbon, click on the "Size" drop-down menu in the "Current Selection" section.
  6. Select "More Options" at the bottom of the menu.
  7. In the "Format Chart Area" pane that appears on the right side of the screen, adjust the "Width" value to increase the width of the chart area.
  8. The chart title box should now be larger and able to fit the title on one line.

How do I change the size of a chart title box?

Hi,

You can't manually size the title of the chart of the axes. So delete the
chart title and replace it with a text box. Just select any part of the
chart that is not text and start typing your title when you press Enter you
will have a title in the center of the chart. This title can be manually
sized an of course moved.

Its really strange that you can't resize the title normally. But thanks for
the tip, this has been frustrating me for a long time!
