Line graphs

I am using a line graph in Excel 2007. It has 3 variables. One of the
variables, I changed to a column graph.
When the data is plotted:this yr sales, last yr sales and budget, on the
bottom of the graph shows dates for every week of data that I have for this
year.
How do you just show dates for every 4th week instead of every week. I had
that in my scatter graph and I think it looks cleaner.
Thanks

Hi,

You select the X-axis
Choose Chart Tools, Format, Format Selection, Axis Options tab, Major Unit,
Fixed, Days, 28.

If I understand you correctly, dates are on your x-axis. The definition of
the misleadingly named "Line" graph is that the x values are non-numeric
categories (it has nothing to do with whether you want to show lines or not),
which means that Excel does not try to interpret a progression among them.
Switch to an "XY (Scatter)" chart.

Line graphs

I did use a x-y graph that also included a column graph (Remember: I have 3
variables).
Everything was fine and I saved the workbook.
Later, when I opened the file, my graph was blank.
When I did a right click on the graph and changed it back to line graph, the
plot reappeared.
I figured that the x-y graph was for 2 variables.
I also changed the secondary axis to primary because the x-y graph wasn't
plotting correctly. The x-y graph had shrunk and also the beginning and
ending points did not line up with the correct date.
I saved the same graph using the line-column default and it comes up
everytime.
Is the x-y graph only for 2 variables or is it me?
Thanks
