how do I put a text label on a point in an XY scatter
 

I am a marketer and I use excel to plot 2 x 2 matricies using x y scatter
graphs but I cannot get the excel to put the text label on the datapoint

how do I put a text label on a point in an XY scatter
 

select the series, then select the point (two single clicks), then right
click and choose the format option. On the Data Label tab, add any default
label and click OK. Select this label (again, two single clicks), then click
the select the text in the label and type whatever you want.

If you have a lot of points, and the labels are in the worksheet, use one of
these free Excel utilities to add labels in bulk:
