Hi Patty,
Coded that way, the formula could put the '!' on the wong line (ie the line after the duplicates), especially if the list hasn't been sorted. You'll note that, with the solution I posted, it can be used before the list is sorted (ideally, row 1 would be the header row, which doesn't get sorted). -- Cheers macropod [MVP - Microsoft Word] "Patty" wrote in message ... With a slight variation this formula in B2 it will put "!" beside the dups =IF(SUMIF(A$1:A1,A2)1,"!","") "HOMER" wrote: I have about 700 8 digit codes that are sorted numericaly. I received an additional 2,600. My problem is that some of these new #'s are repeats of my own. Someone told me to do a "V LOOKUP". What is that and how do I do it?????????? -- HOMER |
