Stopping mouse selecting chart objects

I am using MouseDown to return co-ordinates on a chart in Excel 2007. This
works but the mouse also selects the various chart elements so they get
accidentally moved.

I have tried ActiveChart.ProtectSelection and ActiveChart.Protect neither of
which solve the problem.
