Excel Pivot Chart Formatting

When I create specific formats in a pivot chart, the formats are lost when I
change selections from the drop down menu. Is there an option I can select
to make sure the format settings I select are saved regardless of the changes
in selections made from the drop-down selections?

Excel Pivot Chart Formatting

This is a known behavior of pivot charts. Microsoft suggests recording a
macro next time you reformat the chart, then replay the macro whenever
needed after that.

This was true for Excel 2000 when the above article came out, and for every
version since.

In Excel 2007 this issue was addressed to maintain formatting; but yes, the
support article applies to previous versions.
