Bar and Line chart

I am using Excell 2003
I need to create a BAR graph with 3 years of Sales $$ (1 being the current
year) and add to that a LINE that shows the BUDGETED $$ for the current year.
From the Chart Wizard I chose the "line - column" chart because both the
bars and the line are all using the same $$ numbers. Sales $$ for 2006 and
2007 came up as Bars but Sales for 2008 came up as a line along with the
budget $$ being a line also. I now have a graph of 2 bars and 2 lines. I
wanted 3 bars and 1 line.
How do I get all 3 years of Sales to be bars and only the Budgeted Sales to
be the line? I would certainly appreciate any help someone can give me. I
am very frustrated.

Hi,

It's easy to roll your own combination chart.
Start by creating a column chart on all the data.
Select the series to be plotted as line and right click. Pick Chart
Type. Select the required Line chart.

If you just want to correct your existing chart select the line that
should be column, right click Chart Type, select column.

Cheers
Andy

Skip the "built-in custom" chart types. Make the chart (sales x 3 years and
budget) as a column chart. Select the Budget series, go to Chart menu
Chart Type, select a line style, and hit Enter.

Create a single bar cart for all 4 series of data, then select the budgeted
values series, right click it and select Chart Type. Choose line from the
list and you should have what you want.
