DtTall

Line and Bar Graph in one

Hello,

I have 4 quarters per year of data and 4 years of data, a total of 16
data points, that is for the market price of an item. I have the same
number of data points for what I paid for the items.

I have the graph set up so that each quarter along the bottom has 4
bars in it (one for each year) for the market price. I then have a 4
lines (one for each year) that show what I paid for the item. So far
so good.

The problem is that where the data points are plotted (for the lines)
is in the center of, for instance, all 4 bars of Q1. (see below)
What I really want to do is have the Q1 data point for the 2005 line
be in the column of the Q1 2005 bar, not have all 4 data points for
the lines stacked in the center of the four bars.

_ l l xl l l l
l l l l *l l l l
l---------------------l--------------------l
Q1 Q2

Is there any way to do this while still grouping the years together by
quarter?

Q1

Thanks,

David

Thanks so much; this was perfect! I had the data set up the right way
but didn't do the things in the right order nor did I do stacked for
both chart types. Anyway, great link. Very clear and easy to follow.
