Why is charting so SLOW in Excel 2007?
 

I am trying to make a chart that in Excel 2003 takes no time at all to
display. It can involve up to 20 different series (maybe 500pts each). I
end up editing specific series to a common color, and I turn labels and lines
on or off depending upon consecutive data. Again, Excel 2003 took this with
no problems and showed the edits quickly. Excel 2007 locks up!! It can take
5 minutes for the color palette to show up!!

Why is charting so SLOW in Excel 2007?
 

A known problem. We await MS's solution.

Wait until Excel 2009 - it will take several days to do!

Probably in Excel 2010. There's a hotfix that improves the performance of
Excel 2007 from excruciatingly slow to painfully slow:

Contact MS service, and they'll send you an email (no charge) with a link to
download the hotfix.
