Default Mailmerge and Charts

I would like to know if the following is possible:
I have a Word document containing an embedded Excel Chart. The Word document
is used as a Mailmerge document and reads an entirely different Excel
spreadsheet for a data file.
When I have run the Mailmerge, all other sections of the finished document
read the data correctly from the separate data file, but I then have to go
into each page and amend the spreadsheet data in the embedded chart for each
page, so that the resulting pie chart has the right data on each page.
Make sense?
What I want to do is have the data tab in the embedded chart read the
relevant row from my separate excel spreadsheet data file, so that the pie
chart on each page of my resulting document contains the right data. In other
words, I want mailmerge fields to work on the spreadsheet tab of my embedded
excel chart.
Any ideas?
Thank you.
