setting dates in a timeline
 

I am using Excel 2003. I have created a timeline, and but when I try to
format the x-axis for the months and years of my daughter's life, I get her
birth year twice, and the final year of the timeline twice. Also- the data
appears on the timeline 1 year behind the legend. Can you tell me how to set
the formatting to get mm/yy?
