2-column legend

Is there any way to make a legend use a 2-column (or more) format
rather than one column?

I have Excel 2003 and 2007 on various PCs.

Thanks, Alan

One option might be to create the legend as you want it to look using
worksheet cells as opposed to the chart itself. Once created, use Excel's
"Camera Tool" to create a linked picture of the legend range. You can then
bring that linked picture into your chart as the legend.

Select the legend, and resize it. As you drag the edges, the "cells" of the
legend's entries are shown with dashed lines. If you make the legend shorter
and wider, at some point it divides into two columns of legend entries.
