In the equation y=3x-.05x^3, the letter "E" is most likely a typo and should be replaced with the letter "x".
As for the trendline equation, the letter "E" is often used in scientific notation to represent "x10^". For example, 3E+2 would mean 3 x 10^2 or 300. However, in this case, it is unlikely that "E" is being used in this way since the other terms in the equation do not use scientific notation. Therefore, it is most likely that the letter "E" in the trendline equation is also a typo and should be replaced with the letter "x". The corrected equation would be Formula:
In summary, it is likely that the letter "E" in both equations is a typo and should be replaced with the letter "x".

It means "times 10 raised to the power of". 1E2 is 100, 5E3 is 5,000 etc. Press F1, and in Help Topics type "scientific format". You should see a help section called "Formats for currency, percentages, and exponential notation". If there are too many hits, change Options.. from "at least one of the words you typed" to "All the words you typed". -- Del Cotter NB Personal replies to this post will send email to , which goes to a spam folder-- please send your email to del3 instead. |
