dymanically generate chart, based on multiple values
 

I have a table with 3 columns, the first being the date, second being the
type of recording, and the 3rd being the amount of that type that happened on
that day

04/06/2007 type1 2
04/06/2007 type2 26
04/06/2007 type3 9
04/06/2007 type4 9
04/06/2007 type5 1
05/06/2007 type1 2
05/06/2007 type4 39
05/06/2007 type5 19
05/06/2007 type6 19
05/06/2007 type7 2
06/06/2007 type2 1
06/06/2007 type4 20
06/06/2007 type5 11
06/06/2007 type7 10

I would like to create chart based on this, which show the date in the y axis,
the total ammount in the x axis, and each coloured segment as the type (in a
stacked bar 3d chart)

which of the columns to i select at which point? as I have tried many
variations, and I either get the data without the dates, with no values, or
it wont let me add another series.

This chart also needs to be dynamic (so it looks for "type1" in the second
column and makes that a series). Is this possible?

This is to be used in a report to show how the business is working, and what
types are more successful.

Ok, figured out how to do it but using a macro after pressing F11 on one
table.

however, the dates are not corresponding to the data:
eg:

type1 has values in 01/06/07, 02/06/07, and 04/06/07
type2 has values in 01/06/07, 04/06/07, and 07/06/07


how can you make the data only show in the correct row on the chart? at the
moment it goes my the R2C2:R25C2 type of source.

I tried maiking it look at teh column with teh dates in (as I thought it
would read these to know what column to put teh data in) but it doesn't :(

Make a pivot table of your data, with date in the rows area, type in the
columns area, and value in the data area. Make a stacked bar chart of this
table. You might try a clustered bar as an alternative to the stacked bar. I
would also recommend a 2D chart, which shows the data more clearly, with
less clutter and distortion, than the 3D version.
