Default Let's see if you can solve this.

I have data that varies on a daily basis. There are three series of
data - sales, productivity and refunds. For every series there's
multiple data for each day. For example, on Monday 7th June there are
three sales figures 10, 20, 30; three productivity figures 10%, 20%
and 30% and three refunds worth $5, $10, $15. The data is entered on a
daily basis.

I want to create a chart that shows this detail on a daily basis i.e.
on the X-Axis it should list date and for each date it should plot the
values for those series. I have already created a chart with the three
series however I have not been able to get the dates on the x-axis.

Please help. Any help or pointers in this matter would be greatly
appreciated.

Cheers

Sean

Have you left the cell at the top of the x-axis range, the one where the
labels go on the other ranges, blank? If you use the Microsoft wizards,
they must have a blank cell in the top left hand corner, or they won't
recognise the x-axis.

Sorry Del,

I wasn't able to understand you in that post. I am a bit of a noob in
excel. Anyhow, here's the link to the file :

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1EAUBBTH

Sheet1 is meaningless, Sheet 2 has the data and Sheet 3 has the
graphs.

Thanks.

Cheers

Default Let's see if you can solve this.

Chart menu Source Data Series tab. Click in the box where it says
Category (X) Axis Labels, and select the range of dates with the mouse.

I have tried that. The problem is that the scale (x-axis) starts from
1/1/1900 and goes on till year 2036. This is pointless because I am
looking at a much shorter time scale. I have not been able to figure
out how to fix this. Also, I think I want x-axis as category because
there are a variable number of y-values for a category. I have not
been able to find out any articles on scaling the time line.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Sounds like you don't have numerical data in the range of dates.
