How do I set up a line - bar graph bar first and line all others?

I trying to use the line - bar graph so that the current year is a bar and
all other data sets are line, but the default for this chart type groups have
of them as bars and half as charts. How do I get around this?

I think I succeeded in doing it but I am prepared to be
corrected. Draw all the series as lines and change the chart
type of the one you want to bar.

You mean you want two series, one using X vs Y, the other using X1 vs Y?
Create the chart using X vas Y, then copy the X1-Y data, select the chart,
and use Paste Special to add the data as a new series. Format each series
separately, and if necessary display the X1-Y series on the secondary axis
if X and X1 use incompatible axis scales. Sometimes when you move a series
to the secondary axis, Excel adds a secondary Y axis (which you can remove)
but not a primary X axis. You can add this using the controls on the Chart
Tools contextual tabs.
