Not able to read dates accross bottom of chart
Please excuse me, I am a novice with excel and can see by the other
questions that I will probably not even be able to express my problem. I have made a chart which is nearly what I want, except the dates across the bottom run horizontal and cannot be read as they are written over each other. Across the bottom I have times of day and dates. The times are vertical and can be read , however the dates came out horizontal and cannot be read. I have found the tool to change the direction of text, but it only changes the times (which are already correct) and not the dates. Please advise. I hope you can see what I am talking about. I hoped to include it with this question but cannot see how to attach the chart. Thank you |

right click on the axis and select format axis. In the alignment tab you can

I did do this, however, it only had an effect on the time of day and not the
date. When I made the chart the "time of day" and "date" were in different cells "john" wrote: right click on the axis and select format axis. When two rows (e.g., date and time) are used for the category labels of a
chart, this is the limit of formatting you are allowed. Only the labels closer to the axis are affected by the orientation that you set. Try to put the date and time into one set of cells, so you have one set of labels. Post back if you have problems refining the axis appearance. For example, this plots each point equidistant, even if some are closer than others. - Jon ------- Jon Peltier, Microsoft Excel MVP Tutorials and Custom Solutions http://PeltierTech.com _______ "Bill43" wrote in message ... Had exactly the same problem - this solution worked perfectly - the simplest
answers are usually the best! Mike "Jon Peltier" wrote: When two rows (e.g., date and time) are used for the category labels of a chart, this is the limit of formatting you are allowed.
