Lock Axis Values?

I want to show a progression of data, tracking towards reaching a
predetermined goal. Unfortunately, as I get closer to the desired goal, my Y
axis values are changing every time I update the data, thereby making it look
like I am not getting any closer to the desired goal.

Is it possible to lock in the Axis values, so that they do no autmatically
adjust to "fit" the data provided. Thx.

Answer: Lock Axis Values?

Yes, it is possible to lock in the axis values in Microsoft Excel. Here's how you can do it:
  1. Select the chart that you want to modify.
  2. Right-click on the Y-axis and select "Format Axis" from the drop-down menu.
  3. In the Format Axis pane that appears on the right-hand side of the screen, click on the "Axis Options" tab.
  4. Under "Bounds," you will see two options: "Automatic" and "Fixed." Select "Fixed."
  5. Enter the minimum and maximum values that you want to use for the Y-axis in the "Minimum" and "Maximum" fields.
  6. Click "Close" to apply the changes.

Now, your Y-axis values will remain fixed, regardless of any changes to the data in your chart. This will allow you to track your progress towards your predetermined goal more accurately.

Double click on the axis, go to the Scale tab, enter the values you want,
and clear the checkboxes.

Isn't that life? The harder you work the farther you get from your goal.
(Reminds me of Alice through the looking glass).
