using vlookup to get data for a chart
 

I have used the vlookup function to return a decimal value the is equivelent
to a test grade for my students.

I would like to then plot these decimal values in a chart, however, when i
try to create the chart, excel does not plot any of the decimal values. Is
this because i have used the vlookup to retrieve them, any ideas?

How are you using VLOOKUP?

Set up a range where you have your VLOOKUPs, and make the chart using this
range.
