I can no longer see my charts, only grey boxes.
 

I did something in excel which makes my charts suddenly view as grey boxes
onscreen and on printouts. If I click on the area, a single chart will
appear, but the others remain dark grey boxes.
What did I do, and more importantly, how can I undo it?

Go to Tools | Options | View (tab)...
Verify that Objects...Show all is checked.
