Default Excel Data Markers, Limit Qty

Currently use XY Scatter Charts to plot data with 401 or more points. When I
take each curve and add markers to it, so many data markers show up that it
obliterates the curve and makes it hard to tell where the true curve is. I
have tried making them smaller but by the time you make them small enough
they become hard to recognize within the line itself.

Is there any way to limit the number of data markers? Something that allows
me to put a data marker every 10th, 100th, etc point?

Default Excel Data Markers, Limit Qty

Hi Jon

Thank you for the direction to your website.

I have plotted my graphs with up to 1020 data points with reduced number of
markers using your method. However, I wish to know how to combine the
legends, as using your method shows two legends (which indicated as two
series).

Is there any method that I could show one legend with markers and line on
it? (As now there are two legends--one with only a line and another one with
only the marker)

Many thanks,
Casy

Hi,

You could add a third series with no data but with the correct line and
marker formatting.
You can then remove the other 2 legend entries

If you only have the 1 series though do you really need a legend?

Cheers
