How do I insert a break into a graph?

I am working on a lab write up and I was wondering how I can insert a break
into a graph to demonstrate that the values are not the same distance apart.

Answer: How do I insert a break into a graph?

To insert a break into a graph in Microsoft Excel:
  1. Select the data range that you want to create a chart for.
  2. Go to the Insert tab in the ribbon and select the type of chart you want to create. For example, you can choose a line chart or a column chart.
  3. Once you have created the chart, right-click on the vertical axis (the one that shows the values) and select Format Axis from the drop-down menu.
  4. In the Format Axis pane that appears on the right-hand side of the screen, scroll down to the Axis Options section and look for the Breaks option.
  5. Check the box next to Axis Breaks to enable this feature.
  6. You can then choose the type of break you want to insert, such as a wavy line or a straight line.
  7. Adjust the settings for the break, such as the size and position, until it looks the way you want it to.
  8. Click Close to apply the changes to the chart.
