My calc key on Excel changes box to "Text" Box and doesn't calc ?

My Calc key doesn't function. Cursor arrow is a crossed arrow and when I
click on the Calc key all I get is the Text Box sign around it and no
calculation. I've had Excel re-installed but no improvement. Can anyone
help please ? Thanks.
