Default Need help with sorting

Hello helpers!

I usually use Excel for data/text tables rather than math functions/formulas, so only have a basic knowledge of Excel (2016). Because of that, I'm having trouble translating some of the answers to what are probably the exact same questions I'm asking. Forgive me if this has already been asked and answered somewhere else ...

After my father's recent death, I created a workbook to track information regarding gifts, cards etc. based on the one we used for my mother 10 years ago, using Save As, to avoid having to re-enter the folks were already in Mom's. Since I did that so long ago, I've forgotten some of what I did to get what I want. The good news: I do know how to sort by two or more columns at the same time.

I have two "master" sheets: master 1 has the data and master 2 uses cell references to master 1. I'm entering the data alphabetically by Last Name in both at the same time (linking masters 1 & 2) so that master 2's cell references are correct. On the masters, I have "category" columns, such as flowers, donations, cards, etc. A number of people have "x"s in more than one category.

New information is still coming in, so I'll be doing more entry for awhile. I'd like the workbook to be dynamic, so that when I enter new people, the data will show up in the relevant worksheet(s). In order to do this, do I really need both masters, or will master 1 be enough to do and/or end up with the following?

1. Eliminate rows with blank category cells in masters 1 & 2. How do I sort this so I can delete those rows all at once? Can I use IFTHEN? If so, what is the syntax, and which (or both) master sheets should I use?

2. Create new worksheets with the sort results at the top. I use cell references here? Is IFTHEN useful too? Syntax?

A. One sheet sorted by those with "x"s in more than one category.

B. One sheet for each category.

In the best of all possible worlds, each sheet would exclude the rows that don't have an "x" in the appropriate column: i.e. only those with an "x" in the flower column would show up on the flower worksheet.

Thanks for any help you can give me,

NDS
