how do i exclude addresses in a series sum function

Hi

maybe
=SUM(A1:A1000)-SUM(A5:A10)

if this isn't what you're looking for if you could provide more details as
in the range to sum, the range(s) to exclude and the reason for their
exclusion maybe we can come up with a better solution.
