How do I make the comment ballon large enough to show all of the comment and
what happened to the equal sign in the formula bar in excel 2007? Thank you.

Edit the comment as in previous versions and drag the comment balloon to the
size you want. As to the equal sign in the formula bar, it is still there in
Excel 2007 as it was in previous versions..

not sure if this is a version thing , but if you go and edit the coments,
then you should be able to size the box = look for the white dots in the
corner of the comments box

You can use code to modify the size of all the comments.

Debra Dalgleish has some sample code he
http://contextures.com/xlcomments03.html#Resize

The equal sign on the formula bar disappeared with xl2003.

Maybe you can add the equal sign to the QAT and use it from there.

It's not quite the same, but it may be sufficient for you.

Thank you, I was able to resize the comment box. Still can not find the = in
the fomula bar, I only show the insert function button. Is there something I
have to select on?

The equal sign appears automatically in Excel 2007.
If you enter text in a cell, no equal sign as in previous versions
If you enter a number, you get an equal sign as in previous versions.
If you enter a formula, you get an equal sign as in previous versions.

xl2002 and below had an equal sign icon that was near the fx button on the
formula bar.

It disappeared in xl2003.

And if I had more than a few comments, I wouldn't want to do them manually.

Ps. Here's an image from xl97.

Notice the equal sign to the left of the formula bar.

That doesn't exist anymore in xl2003:

or xl2007:

No reason for it to exist. Simply type it in the cell where you're entering
the formula. Are you telling me you need to have Excel type it for you by
pressing the equal sign????

I simply enter my formulas preceded by an = sign. Why would you want to move
the mouse over hundreds of yards of territory to get the to = sign on the
formula bar??? hehe :) Well, I guess some people will to anything to avoid a
keystroke even if it means spending a lot of time and effort.

For the benefit of those who can't remember or never knew about the earlier
versions of Excel.

More info on how the "=" sign functioned pre-2002

http://tinyurl.com/5yuwwc

It did much more than enter an "="sign.

It made formula editing much simpler.
