Default make filter permanent

Hi,

I am using Excel 2007. I have created a filter so that I am only displaying
rows that contain a particular value in a certain column. Now I want to pass
this filtered data on to a client of mine, but I do not want my client to be
able to remove the filter. Is there any way that I can make the filter
permanent? In other words, what is the easiest way for me to permanently get
rid of the data that does not meet the criteria of my filter?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

Thumbs up Answer: make filter permanent

Hi Paul,

Yes, you can make the filter permanent by copying and pasting the filtered data into a new worksheet or workbook. Here are the steps to do so:
  1. Select all the filtered data by clicking on the top left corner of the table (where the row and column headings intersect) and dragging the cursor to the bottom right corner of the table.
  2. Right-click on the selected data and choose "Copy" or press "Ctrl+C" on your keyboard.
  3. Open a new worksheet or workbook where you want to paste the filtered data.
  4. Right-click on the first cell where you want to paste the data and choose "Paste" or press "Ctrl+V" on your keyboard.
  5. The filtered data will now be pasted into the new worksheet or workbook, and the filter will be permanent.

Note that this method will only copy the filtered data and not the entire dataset. If you want to copy the entire dataset with the filter applied, you can use the
Code:
"Advanced Filter"
feature in Excel. Let me know if you need further assistance with that.

Hi,

Highlight the filtered data and copy it to a new workbook. Send that
workbook to the client.

Althought you can protect the sheet which disables the autofilter, and you
can even add a password to the protection, this is really not a guarantee
against them getting at the data.

If this helps, please click the Yes button.

Copy the filtered data to a sheet in a new workbook.

Send that workbook to the client.

Any other method leaves it up to the client to unhide the hidden data.
