tab color disabled
The 'Tab Color' menu item is disabled on the Format menu and also when I
right click the tab name. There are no disabled items (Help-About Microsoft Office Excel--Disabled Items). Help! Very frustrating (there is already a colored tab in this spreadsheet so at one time I was able to access the menu item 'tab color.') Thanks. |

Is your workbook shared, if it is shared the
coloured tabs will be grayed out and not available for compatibility reasons. -- Regards, Peo Sjoblom "Julianne" wrote in message ... Go To Tools - Protection.
If any of them say unprotect, you have protection on. Click on that option to unprotect it. Alternately, therer could be some sort of Macro or VB in the background, but I don't even want to venture into that territory in the event that it could od more harm than good. Originally was shared on a network drive. But downloaded a copy to my own
hard drive and still can't modify tab color. By shared, he means, if you look at the file name in your title bar does is
say (shared) to the very right? If so, go to Tools - Share Workbook and remove the checkmark. You'll get a prompt about saving. Click OK. "Julianne" wrote: Originally was shared on a network drive. You and Peo Sjoblom are onto the problem, I believe, the only option
available under menu item 'Protection' is 'Protect Shared Workbook' I think I'm ready to accept that I can't change the tab color and move on. Thanks very much for your help! That's it! Thanks!
Tabs are now color-coded to content and my obsessive tendencies are satisfied! You can always just copy the entire worksheet and paste into a new workbook.
This will get aroudn all the craziness... You have to remove the share under toolsshare workbook and clear the
checkmark from "allow changes by more than one user etc." Only other option would be if the workbook is protected but that is less likely IMO -- Regards, Peo Sjoblom "Julianne" wrote in message ...
