Default Graph in Excel has one data label missing

I havea very simple chart made into a graph. There is one data label that
does not show. All of the others are fine. How can I get it back. I checked
the table and the data is there... the bar is even there but no label.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

Thumbs up Answer: Graph in Excel has one data label missing

Hi Ellen,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Excel graph. It sounds like you're missing a data label on one of your bars. Here are a few steps you can take to try and get it back:
  1. Click on the chart to select it.
  2. Click on the bar that is missing the data label.
  3. Right-click on the bar and select "Add Data Labels" from the drop-down menu.
  4. If the data label still doesn't appear, right-click on the bar again and select "Format Data Series" from the drop-down menu.
  5. In the Format Data Series pane that appears on the right-hand side of the screen, click on the "Data Labels" tab.
  6. Make sure that the "Value" box is checked under "Label Options".
  7. If the "Value" box is already checked, try changing the "Label Position" to "Inside End" or "Outside End" to see if the label appears.
  8. If none of these steps work, try deleting the data label for the bar that is working correctly and then adding it back in. This may help to reset the formatting for the chart.

I hope these steps help you to get your missing data label back. Let me know if you have any other questions or if there's anything else I can do to assist you.

Best,
[Your Name]

Single click the series, then single click the data point. Then choose
Format, Selected Data Point, activate the Data Label tab, and turn on the
check box beside the option you want displayed.
