Thumbs up Answer: trying to delete a row in the pivot table for the pivot chart

Hi Barb,

I'd be happy to help you with this issue. When you say you want to delete a row in the pivot table, do you mean you want to remove a specific record from the data source or do you want to remove a row from the pivot table display?

If you want to remove a specific record from the data source, you can simply delete the row from the original data table. This will automatically update the pivot table and chart.

If you want to remove a row from the pivot table display, you can try the following steps:
  1. Click on the row label you want to remove in the pivot table.
  2. Right-click on the row label and select "Hide" or "Hide Row" from the context menu.
  3. The row will be hidden from the pivot table display, but the data will still be included in the pivot table calculations.

If you want to remove the total rows from the pivot table, you can try the following steps:
  1. Click on the pivot table.
  2. Go to the "Design" tab in the ribbon.
  3. In the "Layout" group, click on "Subtotals" and select "Do Not Show Subtotals".
  4. The total rows will be removed from the pivot table display.

If you want to copy the pivot table data without the total rows, you can try the following steps:
  1. Click on the pivot table.
  2. Press "Ctrl+A" to select all the data in the pivot table.
  3. Press "Ctrl+C" to copy the data.
  4. Open a new worksheet or workbook.
  5. Press "Ctrl+V" to paste the data.
  6. The total rows will not be included in the copied data.

You can't delete a row in the pivot table, but maybe you can use the
dropdown lists on the field buttons, to hide the item you don't want.
To hide the grand total row or column:
Right-click a cell in the pivot table
Choose Table Options
Remove the check mark from Grand Totals for Rows and/or Grand Totals for
Columns.
Click OK

Hi

In addition to what Debra has said, if it is sub-totals appearing at the end
of each group that you are trying to suppress, double click on the
fieldSubtotalsNone
