You need to protect cells that contain formulas

To add to what Gary said:
All cells on a worksheet are protected by default, but the protection does
not take effect until you protect the worksheet. You'll need to remove the
"Locked" status from cells you want your users to be able to type into before
protecting the sheet.

Sometimes it is easier to first unlock all cells and then go back and just
lock the ones you have formulas or other information in that you don't want
accidentally changed during actual use of the workbook/worksheet.
