Default Auto Fill using a list of students

How do you type in a list like days of the week, months so you can auto fill
a column?

Hi Mary

If I understand your question you are wanting to create a new list of names
that you can use with the autofill function.
Having typed your column of names, got to
ToolsOptionsCustom Lists and in the white pane at the bottom, select the
range of cells containg your list and click Import.

Then once you enter a name from the list in a cell, dragging the Autofill
handle down or across the page will complete the rest of the lsit for you.

mary;
If it's a simple list of the days of the week or months, then you should be
able to simply type in the day (ie: Monday) and then drag it down or across
and XL will auto-populate the list recognising the format and the data. You
don't need to create a custom list.
However, if it is a unique list, such as names of students, etc. then I'll
refer you to Roger's answer.
