Default Can I plot XYZ points in excel?

I would like to plot 3D (X,Y,Z) points in excel, similar to and XY Scatter
but with a third axis. The surface graph type does not do what I want because
it can't plot scaled numerical values on 2 of 3 axis. Does anyone know how I
can do this?

Thank you

Thumbs up Answer: Can I plot XYZ points in excel?

Yes, you can plot XYZ points in Excel using a 3D scatter plot. Here's how you can do it:
  1. Enter your data in three columns: X, Y, and Z. Make sure that each column has a header row.
  2. Select the data range that you want to plot, including the header row.
  3. Go to the "Insert" tab on the ribbon and click on "Insert Scatter (X, Y) or Bubble Chart".
  4. In the drop-down menu, select "3D Scatter".
  5. Excel will create a 3D scatter plot with your data. You can rotate the plot by clicking and dragging on it.
  6. To customize the plot, right-click on it and select "Format Chart Area". From here, you can change the chart type, add titles and labels, and adjust the axis scales.
  7. If you want to add a trendline to your plot, right-click on a data point and select "Add Trendline". Choose the type of trendline you want and adjust the settings as needed.

That's it! You now have a 3D scatter plot in Excel. If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

Hi,

This chart type is not available built-in.
I have some information on mimicking a 3d plot using xy-scatter and formula.
http://www.andypope.info/charts/3drotate.htm

It currently plot points but can be adapted to plot a mesh.

Cheers
Andy

Default Can I plot XYZ points in excel?

Hi, because my problem is very similar/related to this I dint open a new
thread but I am continuing here.

As explained by Andy Pope I did a 3D excel chart and everything is OK.

I just want to go a step further and find a way to automatically adjust the
minimum and maximum axis/cage data values to those which will be actually
plotted.

For example: I have data plotted those x,y,z values can be 500 or 5000. And
since my cage/axis data is predefined to a fixed value (to accommodate bigger
data), small data doesnt look good in plot.

Is any way to do this?

TIA

TIm
