Why is it bad to post test posts in production newsgroups
-- because hundreds of people have to read junk, and have
it delivered to their computers..

Why is it bad to post through bad portals such as Excel Forum
-- because they post newsgroup postings of web sites, which really
messes up web searches by including newsgroup postings.
-- web pages are more complete and are overwhelmed with the
more spontaneous, but shallower coverage from newsgroups.

Why is it bad to not use your name when posting to Excel Newsgroups
-- people in newsgroups take time to answer your questions, it is a lot
more polite to use your actual name.

But aren't my questions posted to Excel Forum being answered by
people on Excel Forum.
-- Nope.

What does Excel Forum do then..
-- Makes money for the owner. Keep in mind that newsgroups are
provided as a free service these newsgroups are hosted free
on Microsoft servers for the Usenet community. The people
answering questions are answering free of charge in newsgroups
nothing to do with Excel Forum. Excel Forum simply forwards the
posting to a newsgroup. The fact that you don't mind looking at
advertising is not my concern, but the fact that you use Excel Forum
which messes up web searches is of concern..
